Water My Mind

ALL serious learners have one thing in common, an insatiable hunger and thirst for knowledge. This kind of student makes the world his classroom. As often as the Sun rises, he eagerly awaits the lesson for the day. Francisco Villa once said, “No man is your enemy. No man is your friend. Every man is your teacher.” This implies that, every man, to some degree, knows something you don’t. From this axiom we arrive at the next one, “Every leader is a follower.” I am cynical of any man who claims to be a student, but is not open to every avenue of knowledge. While the nouns differ (leader and teacher), the principle is the same. Humility is a prerequisite for the inquisitive student. Jesus says let those who [need] come to Me.

The proud man hears this call, turns his head and struts pass the Teacher like a Spartan leading his army into battle. The proud believe they have nothing to learn, only something to give. Therefore, their morality and spirituality are capped like fireflies in a glass jar. They claim to be wise, but their actions reveal their self-destructive foolishness which is harmful to them and everyone around them. They convince themselves that the knowledge they acquired in their adolescence got them this far, it could surely propel them into greater success. In this manner, the proud foolishly eat the fruit of their own deception.

No man is your enemy. No man is your friend. Every man is your teacher.

On the other hand, the humble student begins each day with an eternal hunger. This is why, in any setting, objects that don’t think and can’t talk can still satiate the hunger of this student. How does this happen? What do the grass, flowers, and trees have to say? Simply, if a person is placed in the right environment, in the right position, with a consistent amount of Sonlight, his growth is endless. For when does the eternal human, ever reach a peak? To him, life is no longer required monotony, rather each day he walks in the Spirit and in Truth as he pursues Truth. Consequently, the world can only gawk as their awe spreads like gossip. At this point, he and his audience can only ponder as to how God’s mysterious grace could be so omnipotent.

Ultimately, there are two options: you can let indolence and hubris illusory dance hypnotize you day after day, only to wake and realize that life has disappeared like the morning mist. Or humbly ask the Shepherd for the location of this right environment, wherein the Gardner will put you in the Son, and the Son in you. Then, you shall be like the tree whose leaf never withers. Reader, the choice is yours.

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?

Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.

Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.

Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.

2Pac

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on His law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
— Psalm 1
