The Forked Road

The journey of love is best compared to a long, hard road. The destination isn’t a place, but constant growth. As I walk down this road, there are myriad disappointments. They are as numerous as rain drops and as restless as the wind and heavier than the ocean’s water. Until you meet the one you’ll hear potential lovers express a lame excuse that’s more of an insecurity than a fear, “You are overqualified.” But, the hungry lover responds, “I come from the same dirt as you, ya know? As far as I know, you’re intelligent, so… I assumed you knew.” Then you offer her a world, and she boasts, “I have my own.” She says she’s content, but that’s more pride than lie. Two choices are left before you, continue your walk or commit suicide. Humans were made for life and love— to live void of one induces an immediate death. Better you than nature.

It is madness that certain men have occupied their minds with measuring the world and have dared to publish their results.
