Crosseyedvision means to view everything in Scripture and life in light of the Cross and the Christ. Hopefully, these short reflections can aid in your walk down the Narrow Path!

John 6:6

In school teachers usually give test, for two reasons. 1) They have prepared us for that test and 2) they believe we know the answers to that test. If a man, created in the image of God can give a genuine and honest test, surely our Teacher can test us deeper than a shallow understanding of content. When He tests, He tests not the brains of men, but the hearts of men. And we see Him, cleverly, ask Phillip a question. Remember, Jesus choose Phillip to be an Apostle. No men have ever learned as much or as intimately as the Apostles have about our Lord. Yet, this seasoned veteran response is one that is appalling. It’s not the response that’s shocking, rather the thought process to get to His answer that is shocking. The error in his thinking is this: Phillip believes that Jesus was just like Him (Psalm 50:21). May we learn for our brother’s mistake and remember that, He is nothing like us. He is God. He is King. He is Lord. He is Savior. A reminder that we cannot forget. When He tests, you, will you pass the test?

Genesis 41:6

It’s true, as the old adage says, humbleness is power under control. Joesph never forgot the source of his power. He remembered his place, a tool, in the Hand of God. In doing so, God exalted him. Remember what and who you are, and you remember your role on Earth. It’s only after this can God use you. Read that sentence again.

John 6:11

There are resources that people need in this world, and most of us usually have an abundance. It should be our aim in life to give back to those in poverty. In addition to this, we should also give them what we have no matter how scarce it may be. But, before we give people anything we must first recognize that we have, and this should humble us and cause us to thank God for the grace that He bestowed upon us to have resources. Our generosity should be laced with dangerous selflessness, one that hopes to conquer poverty. Then, we must adopt a humble posture less in His wisdom and goodness, He decides to swap the roles.

Hebrews 2:1

We (self) must pay more careful attention to (Jesus) therefore, to what we have heard from the (Holy Spirit) so that we do not drift away from (Abba). The One who helps in this area.

Matthew 3:2

Continual repentance is needed for an unfiltered relationship with YHWH. Search your heart.

Ezekiel 25:12

Vengeance is the Lord’s.

Matthew 16:18

Our Lord and Savior said we will not be conquered. We have a promise.

Psalm 57

When our enemies attack us they attempt to foil God’s purpose for us—not our own purposes, the enemy couldn’t care less about our own plans, it’s God’s plans that terrify them. So, when we call on Him for our protection and salvation, it is not merely for our safety (although He ensures that), it is primarily for the sake of His glory.

Psalms 56:8

“You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded every one in your book.” Such beautiful language. The Lord pays close attention to our emotions, and is very near to us in them.

Mark 1:24

When we are sent by God to preach the Good News, we are bound to make hell frustrated and angry.
